UNICADO: multidisciplinary analysis in conceptual aircraft design

Abstract In this paper, different iterative methods, so-called architectures, within the multidisciplinary analysis in conceptual aircraft design of UNICADO software are elaborated, applied and analyzed. Possible execution sequences sequential method (Gauss-Seidel architecture) derived via a graph-based algorithm combination with expert knowledge. Sensitivities disciplines analyzed permitted residual for stable convergence characteristic is derived. Prerequisites application parallel method, Jacobi architecture conducted. Runtime characteristics Gauss-Seidel evaluated. A damping to enhance characteristics. The architectures used two aircraft, CSR CSMR, an iteration accuracy 2.5e–3. If time loop increases, e.g., when using higher fidelity methods design, choice must be re-evaluated.
